Ozone treatment removes iron, manganese, sulfur and other substances from the water and creates an oxide, which is then filtered out. Oxides are much more filterable, making the water that has been treated with ozone more easily cleaned. Unlike chlorine, which first reacts with water to form hypochlorous acid and then destroys bacteria, ozone destroys organic bonds directly by attaching to them. Ozone also reacts quickly and does not leave residue behind!
